One Month on the Wrist: Road-Testing the Zennor Rubber Watch Strap

When you work in watch straps, you end up wearing a lot of them. But I don’t really trust a strap until I’ve lived with it properly, through wet days, long walks, desk hours, and the kind of everyday use that quickly exposes weak points.

So when we extended our range of the Zennor Rubber Watch Strap by introducing 4 new colours, I decided to do exactly that. I wore it daily for a month, rotating it across a Tudor Black Bay, Tudor Black Bay GMT, Seiko Turtle, and an Omega Seamaster, to see how it actually performed outside of the workshop.

No special treatment. Just real use in real-life UK work and conditions.

First Impressions & Fit

From the outset, the Zennor felt reassuringly solid. That comes down to the FKM rubber we chose for the strap. Compared to cheaper silicone rubbers, FKM has a higher density, which gives it a slightly heavier feel in the hand, but also greater durability and flexibility once it’s on the wrist.

One of the design details I paid the most attention to was the moulded curved lug end. Rather than dropping straight down from the case, the strap curves naturally to follow the wrist. On watches like the Black Bay and Seamaster, this made an immediate difference, the watch sat closer to the wrist and felt more secure, especially during longer wear.

A small detail, but one I appreciate every time I change straps: the lug width is moulded into the underside of the strap at the lug end. If you own multiple watches and swap straps regularly, this saves time and guesswork.

Living With It in UK Weather

Most of this testing took place in typical UK conditions, cold mornings, regular rain, and plenty of damp dog walks.

The Zennor handled daily water exposure without any issues. Hand washing, rain, condensation, and wet sleeves never affected the strap. It dried quickly and, importantly, didn’t develop that sticky feel some rubber straps get over time.

Comfort-wise, it’s been excellent. The flexibility of FKM helps the strap mould to your wrist, and even after a full day, from desk work to long walks, it remained comfortable with no pressure points.

Another thing worth mentioning is that it doesn’t attract dust. Cheaper silicone rubbers can quickly look scruffy; the Zennor stayed clean and low-maintenance throughout the month.

On Different Watches

Tudor Black Bay & Black Bay GMT
The Zennor feels very much at home on these. The curved ends integrate neatly with the case, and the sporty, modern look suits the tool-watch nature of both models.

Seiko Turtle
Comfort is key here, and the strap performed well. The watch stayed stable on the wrist during longer walks, with no shifting or hot spots.

Omega Seamaster
In Ocean Blue, the strap gives the Seamaster a more utilitarian, everyday feel while still looking sharp. It’s a great alternative to a bracelet when you want something lighter and more relaxed.

Hardware & Practical Details

The buckle and tongue are machined from solid stainless steel, rather than folded sheet metal. It’s a detail you feel every time you fasten the strap, solid, precise, and built to last.

The strap uses two floating rubber keepers, with the first held securely in place by four small protruding features. In daily use, this works exactly as intended, keeping the strap tail neat and secure.

Strap Changes & Quick-Release

Over the month, I swapped the Zennor between watches regularly. The integrated quick-release spring bars made this fast and effortless, no tools, no risk of scratching lugs. If you rotate watches often, this feature makes a real difference.

Expanding the Zennor Colour Range

When we first launched the Zennor, it was offered in three core colours Black, Blue, and Orange. They covered the essentials: clean, versatile, and purpose-driven options that worked across most tool watches.

It became clear that there was room to expand the range. Different watches, and different moods, call for different colours.

We’ve extended the Zennor lineup to include Brown, Green, Red, and White. Each new colour was chosen to complement modern sports and tool watches, giving more flexibility when pairing straps with the watches in your collection.

Final Thoughts After a Month

After a month of daily wear, the Zennor didn’t feel like a test piece anymore, it felt like a strap I’d naturally reach for. It’s comfortable enough for all-day wear, tough enough for wet and cold conditions, and versatile enough to suit a wide range of watches.

This strap was designed to be used, and after living with it properly, I’m confident it does exactly what it was intended to do.
