Some products happen quickly.
Others take time.
The OCTOPOD Titanium Clasp System falls firmly into the second category.
For years, customers have asked us one question more than almost any other:
“When are you making a titanium version?”
From titanium tool watch owners to divers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts looking to reduce weight without sacrificing durability, the demand has been impossible to ignore. So, after extensive development, testing, prototyping, and collaboration with specialist manufacturing partners, we’re finally ready to introduce the most advanced version of OctoPod we’ve ever produced.
Meet the OCTOPOD Titanium Clasp System.
Introducing the octopod titanium - The Ultimate Evolution of OctoPod
Why Titanium?
Titanium has long been the material of choice for high-performance applications where strength, weight reduction, and corrosion resistance matter most.
In the watch world, it has become especially popular among serious tool watches thanks to its lightweight feel and exceptional durability in harsh environments. For many enthusiasts, once you wear titanium properly, it’s difficult to go back.
That was exactly the challenge we set ourselves:
Create a titanium OctoPod system that genuinely feels worthy of the watches it’s paired with.
The final result weighs approximately just 17 grams, around half the weight of our 316L stainless steel version, while retaining the same secure OctoPod architecture and compatibility across our existing strap range.
The difference on the wrist is immediate. Less weight. Less fatigue. More comfort over long periods of wear.
More Than Just a Material Upgrade
Simply recreating the existing buckle in titanium was never the goal.
Titanium behaves very differently during machining and finishing compared to stainless steel. Achieving the tolerances, surface quality, and durability we wanted required a completely different manufacturing approach.
The OcotoPod Titanium Clasp System is machined from solid Grade 2 titanium, with the exception of the spring-loaded push-button release components, which remain stainless steel for optimal mechanical reliability.
Every edge, curve, and surface has been refined to create a clasp system that feels technical, lightweight, and purpose built from the moment you handle it.
Hardened Titanium Finishes
For the first production run, the OCTOPOD Titanium Clasp System launches in three finishes:
Titanium Brushed
Titanium Sandblasted
Titanium Super Black
But this isn’t simply cosmetic finishing. Selected surfaces are hardened up to 1200HV, significantly harder than standard stainless steel, helping improve scratch resistance and long-term wear durability in real-world use. The coatings themselves use advanced vacuum ion plating technology developed specifically for titanium components used within the watch and precision hardware industries.
This process involves:
high-vacuum ion plating
ceramic surface layer formation
enhanced coating adhesion systems
hardened low-stress multilayer construction
The result is a finish designed not only to look exceptional, but to withstand the environments your gear actually sees:
saltwater, sweat, abrasion, impact, and daily wear.
The Titanium Super Black finish uses a specialised multilayer hardened coating process developed to improve adhesion and long-term stability on titanium surfaces, a known challenge in high-performance coating applications.
An additional anti-fingerprint top coating helps reduce visible marks during everyday use.
Refined for Everyday Wear
Performance was only part of the brief. While the OCTOPOD Titanium Clasp System was developed for durability, lightweight wear, and harsh environments, we also wanted it to feel refined during everyday use.
To complement the hardened titanium finishes, the clasp features an advanced nano-scale anti-fingerprint coating designed to help reduce visible smudging, sweat marks, and surface oils during regular wear. Using a specialised nano-deposition process, an ultra-thin oleophobic protective layer is bonded to the titanium surface to create a cleaner, smoother finish without altering the technical character of the buckle itself.
The result is a clasp that not only performs in demanding conditions, but also maintains a cleaner appearance through daily use, handling, and travel. Like every part of the OCTOPOD Titanium project, this detail was added not for marketing purposes, but because it improved the overall ownership experience of the final product.
Built Around the OctoPod System
One of the biggest advantages of the OCTOPOD Titanium Clasp System is that it remains fully compatible with the wider ZULUDIVER strap ecosystem.
Swap between rubber, leather, elastic, perlon, and nylon strap setups while keeping the same clasp system fitted.
One system. Endless setups.
For existing OctoPod users, titanium becomes a genuine upgrade path rather than a separate platform.
Built for Tool Watches
Throughout development, one thing became increasingly clear:
This clasp feels completely at home on modern tool watches.
Especially titanium divers and expedition-focused watches where reducing unnecessary weight makes a noticeable difference during daily wear.
We’ve also been working alongside brands including Ocean to Orbit and BOLDR Watches on titanium clasp projects for upcoming watch releases, further reinforcing our belief that lightweight, performance-focused watch hardware is becoming increasingly important within the enthusiast space.
First Production Run
The OCTOPOD Titanium Clasp System is not intended to be a mass-market product.
This first production run has been produced in limited quantities as a flagship expression of what the OctoPod system can become when weight reduction, engineering, and premium materials are pushed further.
For us, this project has never been about creating “just another buckle”.
It was about building the ultimate version of OctoPod.
And we think we’ve done exactly that.
